Lots of companies invent things and lots sell branded things in volume, but rare to do both in the same firm.

My thinking is that the 100 million volume mark is a very high bar to clear in any industry, even with low priced products.
Someone just tweeted Kleenex — another good non-tech example.
Presumably there are lots of food products (e.g., Coke probably sells more than 100m in a month).

Nokia is on the edge — they easily passed the 100 million units shipped, but those were spread out over many Nokia mobile phone types.
