I have finally written my first successful Hadoop 2.0 map reduce job.

Light dawns over marble head: my Hadoop jobs haven’t been working because I didn’t properly grok Java package and class naming. Now I do.

A very cool blast from the past: Scala implements futures and promises, advanced parallel programming constructs I used in the late 1980s.

Best part of our week so far: RC arrived home from UVM for Christmas!
