Full disclosure: I have both driving and pilot licenses. The pilot in command idea is very important in flying and seems ignored in driving.

Pilots know that having an autopilot still demands they be responsible for their aircraft and passengers. Drivers should be no different.

Why self-driving cars still need drivers: we have had autopilots on airplanes for 50 years and the law still requires a pilot in command.
