5 A birthday and a parts list
December 2023
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas! Our family flew out to Indiana in November to celebrate Carolyn’s Dad’s 100th birthday and it was a huge success. Here’s a photo of the birthday boy (he’s the one with the cane) and 35 of his closest friends and family.
And then we all came home and contracted COVID.
We all recovered fairly rapidly, but the result is that it’s now December. We had expected to be interviewing contractors by now, but life intervened. Oh well.
The good news is that we like Anne’s latest design with the balcony over the heat pump, and we’ve scheduled an analysis by her structural engineer, Corey Matthews. Meanwhile, Anne has generated a fabulous 3D walkthrough of the newly designed shed dormer, kitchen, and primary bathroom as seen below.
Once our structural engineer, Cory, provides his analysis of our existing home, Anne will incorporate his feedback (which we hope is “none”) and then generate a parts list for the project. At that point, we can start getting prices from contractors. That said, it’s now clear we can’t start that process until the beginning of 2024.
